EXCLUSIVE: Miki Howard Denies Having a Son with Michael Jackson, Says 'I Am Brandon Howard's Father'
This is a vague statement. This says to me that Miki Howard has had a son named Brandon and she has been both the Mother and Father of this child. Now that could mean she had the child via sperm donation or conceived a child and chose not to inform the father that he in fact is the father or she doesn't know who the father is. She is a single parent. As a human being she has the right to not answer these kinds of questions - being a performer does not entitle the world to know her personal business.

If you're an R&B lover, you've long been aware of the Grammy-nominated singer who gave us hits like "Love Under New Management" and "Ain't Nobody Like You." Now 53, Howard is working on her 10th studio album, Something Old, Something New..., and is ready to quell rumors that she has a son with the King of Pop. "I am not Billie Jean," she protests. She spoke with ESSENCE.com OK SO SINCE I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO REPORT I'M GOING TO USE SOMEONE ELSE'S YELLOW JOURNALISM TO SELL MY BS OF A STORY SO HERE GOES MORE BULLYING - WELL AT LEAST I HAD THE GUTS TO TELL YOU WHO MY "SOURCE" IS, RIGHT?. . . about her whirlwind week since the DNA results were broadcast on TMZ, her relationship with the Jackson family, and why she calls herself Brandon's 'father. WELL AFTER READING THE ARTICLE - I DON'T THINK THIS WHY WAS EVER ANSWERED - IT APPEARS TO BE HERE TO JUST TIE IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH ACTUALLY WRITTEN BY THIS PERSON WHO CLAIMS TO HAVE A TRUE STORY TO TELL
This last week and a half must have been a roller coaster for you and your family. Did you know the DNA test was happening?
Miki Howard: No. Of course not. I didn't know anything. I have grown children. They're over 30 and they do their lives and everything. I had no idea. I just turned on the TV. So I thought, whatever it is, it's just some junk; it's going to blow over. And then it kept going. I was just very hurt.
What exactly hurt you about it?
I don't want to be introduced to people that have never heard of me as being this. I don't like that. And then the people around me that I personally know, became, you know, real opportunists and weird. It’s been awful.
This rings to me to be very true not only for Miki Howard - but for any human being. You don't want to be introduced to people in this kind of way. This story is being used to sell a sensationalized story that is tearing apart the lives of several innocent people - just to make some kind of profit... depending on the angle - the writer is getting something - the promoters are getting something - the others of the tabloids/news/media are making something (I am not by the way getting any profit from this blog). Until the world gets this through all their respective heads - those in the entertainment field that we cherish will be subjected to this kind of bullying - they have the same right to privacy that the rest of us have and it is due time that the press/tabloids/media/judicial system / lawyers etc... all understand and respect this - and that we demand this for them - and no louder voice then to not listen to their crap - not buy their printed materials and speak up when we hear others feeding off these false stories.
How have your conversations with Brandon been?
My concern is that he's safe and that his mental health is good. Whatever that stuff is going around, it's going to die. People are saying really bad things, and it's just—you hate to see your children hurt.
No truer words can be spoken from a parent - care and concern for their child when they know what they are experiencing - hate and hurt from a world that really doesn't care about them. I know some of us do, but we need to be a force of change in the world.
You put out a very interesting statement though where you said you had signed a nondisclosure agreement with the Jacksons? What does that mean?
We have those. So do a lot of people. Because in this business as a family, you create a family of artists, you know. Like most people do, you have your pretend aunts and stuff, and most of these people are famous. And we have nondisclosures because if you start talking about people's personal business, it starts this kind of stuff. The Jacksons are good people. I've known them for many, many years. You just have [non-disclosure agreements] when kids are around and you're intermingling with each other's lives personally. And you may see something that they don't want disclosed or they may see something that you don't want disclosed. That's all that is. Ok so this question was trying to dig deep for the dirt - who said there was any dirt.... if there is dirt . . . I don't feel the need to know. Why can't we just all appreciate Miki Howard for the human being that she is and the artist that she is giving beauty and joy to the world - and by the way so does her talented son, B. Howard. Does it really matter who his biological father is - what is more important is that he appears to have a great Mom and through her career and contacts has put into his life some really fantastic people - including the Jackson family. And that is where it should stop. Personally, I think it is awesome that no matter who his father is we as in the world are blessed to see him - he appears to be a really sweet, intelligent, talented and kind human being. Yeah Miki - Single Parent - You raised him well. That should be the headline - that should be the story - that is the positive story... but see here - it's never mentioned! The non disclosure agreement hear appears to be needed because of the tabloid reporters and the possibility that people will use personal information about each other for financial gain. Well, it appears to me that Miki and the Jacksons have all kept to their mutual agreement. So far be it from any of us to speculate anything.
Is that how it works in Hollywood?
Yeah. It's because when media gets things—and it’s coming from like the housekeeper, maybe a personal assistant, and they're telling their business. I don't want to be known for that. I have worked too hard. My career is 35 years old. I'm a real craftsman. And this is what I present to the public. If we start getting into my private life, a pen and a pencil ain't gonna help.
The non-disclosure agreement you had with the Jacksons was because you had a prior friendship with the family from when you were working with Joe Jackson? [Jackson was Howard's manager in the 80's]
From then, from recently. Not that long ago, because Brandon started to put out music and people were always asking questions. So we did that then, like maybe two years ago because I don't want to be talking about this. One day maybe things will go over and maybe people will feel differently or whatever. Everybody will sit down and we'll say what's happening. And then maybe there'll be a time when you could find out. But what is really good to find out is that those are good people. Mr. Jackson did a great job.
Wow, she really is saying a lot without divulging anything of private information. My summation is that when and if she decides, or B. decides or whomever is really involved decides to have any story told - then they will be the ones to do it - and not at the pressure of the tabloid media. . . or any media for that matter. And to which Mr. Jackson she is referring to - any thoughts stemming from that will be pure speculation. There are many "Mr. Jacksons". and Great Job - that doesn't mean "father" "Parent" it could only be referring to Mr. Jackson as her manager.

Why would you cry?
Because it's so beautiful. People try to make something nasty and terrible and that's why, you know, you don't want to do that.
The world is always so quick to see these articles / photographs looking for the negative instead of looking for the positive. She is right... for her son to have the opportunity to know the Jackson family is a beautiful gift - not something nasty or terrible - but as always the tabloids jump at any and all opportunities to drum up nasty thoughts and images in the minds of people - it is like adding salt to water - you are thirsty so you drink - but in drinking the salt makes you more and more thirsty. We the public by our actions too we keep buying the salt water - instead of fasting, fasting and living - do we really need to know what goes on in the lives of other people. Focus that energy on helping your neighbors - children that need big brothers or big sisters. Children that are suffering from illness in hospitals. Orphans in orphanages... are they being cared for - do they need an adult to stand up and say lets go bowling - or roller skating - a movie. A senior citizen that would love to have a conversation with someone. There are so many lonely people in this world that just need a friend. Now wouldn't standing up here in these ways be much more satisfying than that drink of salt water?
The man claiming to be Brandon's father, Augie Johnson, has come out saying that Michael Jackson didn't even know you. Is that accurate?
I can't make any statement regarding to what that man is saying. I have no idea what he's talking about. This opens up cans of worms and memories and things that have no business being discussed in public.

There are people who say Brandon looks like a Jackson.
Yeah, whatever. [laughs] I know he's my son. And I know that I've been the father for the last 30-odd years. OK? I know that I've been the one that's supplied every emotional need, every financial need, every physical need. So the whole question is really and truly—it's like get the f**k out of here.
I too am a single parent now. Although the father has "joint custody" I am truly the one to provide now as before every emotional need, every financial need, every physical need - and with single parenting only with older children, I can't begin to imagine the true extent of what a single parent from day of birth of a child is like. I can only say, that in the short time for me, that "joint custody" thing is just a way to maintain control of the parent that has "Primary Custody". So in this case, from my perspective I see an awesome story here about a brave and strong woman, single parent, raising a beautiful son and we should be celebrating her life her success - B. Howard's success. Doesn't matter whose sperm - it matters who he has become and that is a direct reflection of the quality parenting he got from his Mother and those people that influenced his life in positive ways - right?
Have you spoken to the Jackson family during all this?
No. I haven't spoken to anybody. I'm not interested. Personally I wouldn't have made a statement. I don't care. I already know what's happening. I'm a 53-year-old grandmother. What am I going to talk about, who's your baby's daddy? Are you serious? [laughs] Ask me something else. I've been doing this for 35 years. Ask me how many records I’ve made? I've been under the radar enjoying my life.
A beautiful statement - she has more important things to do in her life - she is a Grandmother - she is a performer - doing what she loves to do. Ask me about what is my public life... her career - her music. Funny for 35 years she's been enjoying her life under the radar.... out of the tabloids... sounds to me like she is determined to stay under that radar - out of their grasp of the bully tabloids. You Go Girl... much R-E-S-P-E-C-T for you!
You're working on a new album.
The entire project is going to be 5 EP's because there's too much music. We did a live album basically. A lot of the older songs, the hits that I had, are on there. "Come Share My Love," "Baby, Be Mine," "Until You Come Back to Me," "Love Under New Management," "Ain't Nobody Like You." They're all on here. The first single is a song called "Panther" and it's sort of a woman's anthem about—well, certain women because I'm a mature woman. It's about growing past the cougar and being a panther. It’s about being strong and being a warrior and really taking care of yours and feeling good about it. That's why this mess is really a thorn in my side. I'm like, I'm too independent for this.
The WORLD should be way past any of this nonsense. Who's your daddy .... what does that really mean? What does that really matter. Mother and Father aren't just egg and sperm - there is so much more to it... let's dwell on what really matters. She is a successful, strong, beautiful, smart, brave woman that has faced I'm sure a lot in her lifetime being in that business - along with being a single parent.... and instead of the media focusing on her career and the positives - they latch onto a tiny piece of a "so called" story and are running it to the hilt that is intended to only make them money by spreading lies on another family and her son. She is too independent for this... in other words - back the fuck off....again.. . r-e-s-p-e-c-t
How would you describe the album?
I'd say it's like food. It's like a wonderfully rich caloric great meal. It's something that when I play it for people, they say, oh my God, I feel like I just ate a good meal. We recorded live—real horns, real singers. We had layers and layers of vocals and it's real work.
Food for your soul... and isn't that what music is about....I'd take a guess that she said a lot more about her album - but limited space only for true real facts. . . right? and then right back to the tabloid question of the year. . .
So, you are not Billie Jean!
I'm not. If anything, I’m more Billie Holiday than Billie Jean, baby.

WOW that is a huge statement - she said Billie Holiday.... lets expand on that.... if you really what to know about Miki Howard - this reporter would have asked - what is it about your life that you feel compares to Billie Holiday? I'm sure there is an awesome story there. I'm sure many young people today might not know who Billie Holiday is. But then again, this article isn't to find or report true stories - just to grasp at a hurtful lie.
